In Lagos, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Yan Yuqing, highlighted the Beijing summit as a landmark occasion, signaling a transformative phase in the China-Africa partnership. According to Yan, the summit paves the way for a new era of modernization and elevates the China-Africa community to new heights. In a statement released on Friday, Yan Yuqing described the summit's outcomes as both promising and significant, with the potential for extensive cooperation and profound historical impact. Yan noted that the recent talks between President Xi Jinping and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led to an agreement to elevate the China-Nigeria relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They also committed to developing a High-level China-Nigeria Community with a shared future. Following their discussions, the two leaders observed the signing of several key bilateral agreements. These included the Cooperation Plan for Promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, economic development strategies, utilization of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, and partnerships in news media and peanut exports. Yan emphasized that the two Presidents issued a Joint Statement on establishing this Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and building a High-level China-Nigeria Community with a shared future.
