To My Beloved, Neptune
By: Tyler Smiley “That’ll be two-hundred and twenty-two mexals” the shop clerk said. I reach down and pull out the mexal card. He asks to see the name, “Mr. Keirk! No way youre Mr. Kierk! His skin is not that shade, no offense. Plus, he would not be caught in this dumpster fire of the third wave nebula!” “Whoa, let me stop you there,” I said sarcastically. “I work for the guy. Here is his bio-signature.” My face begins to pixelate and become unrecognizable as it buffers the image of my boss. Within three seconds, I am a digital copy of Dennis Kierk, billionaire, technomancing politician on track to be the first being to live on a planet past the asteroid belt. The clerk begins to ooze sweat as he looks like he is not sure what he has just witnessed. “Oh, you all have this technology. The Wikipedia info scanner indicated representative bio-signature use. He shoved me the much-needed supplies and ran into the bathroom for safety. I jetted back to the Armadopolis, a fortress of a shuttle more akin to a floating city.
