Two days ago, Time Magazine broke the news that Tony Stark will soon be Iron Man no more! Teenager Riri Williams is just the latest in a long line of 'Legacy Heroes', characters who take on the mantle of Marvel's legends. Since 2011, Marvel comic book fans have seen old, established heroes step aside in order to allow new superheroes to stand in the spotlight. Marvel has also used the approach to increase comic book diversity, with these new 'Legacy Heroes' often either female or ethnically diverse. Ten Times Superheroes Did Politics!
Last week, Marvel Comics set the Internet ablaze. Steve Rogers: Captain America #1 continued an avowedly political trend in writer Nick Spencer's stories, with Cap revealing himself as a HYDRA agent. The political implications were spelled out by HYDRA leader the Red Skull, whose populist speech in the comic was not a little reminiscent of Donald Trump. It's led to an inferno of fury on the Internet, with Spencer even receiving death threats, and many fans are arguing that comics just shouldn't do politics.

It's Official: Marvel And Fox Are Working Together On An X-Men TV Series!
X-Men fans rejoice! For all the rumors of hostility between Marvel and Fox, today Variety exclusively reported that an X-Men TV series is in the works - co-produced by Marvel Entertainment and Fox! Fox has signed up to what's called a "Put Pilot," essentially meaning that the network must air the pilot - or face substantial financial penalties. So this looks like a sure thing!

A Robin's Last Stand in Detective Comics #940?
Today I'm launching a weekly series that will unveil what I consider to be the very best comic published this week. I'll be casting my eye across the entire Marvel and DC range, and beyond, to the smaller, independent publishers you may otherwise miss. For this first week, though, there isn't even any competition. Detective Comics #940 - the conclusion of "Rise of the Batmen" - is hands-down one of the best comics I've read in a long, long time.
