Madam Arden's House of Illusions and Magic
Chapter 1 Artemis Mallory Ferrier I didn’t intend to buy anything or to become involved in any way, shape, or form. But the sales associate was excellent; against my will, his patter reeled me in, like a dog on a leash desperately trying to avoid a bath—maybe more like a fish on a line. Death Swims In The Aquarium
My gloved hand floats in front of my eyes, weightless. My heart’s still beating; my lungs continue to accept air. But the rest? Pretty much a whole lot of nothing. Whatever Jack did, it’s working. I’m paralyzed, and I’m pretty sure Jack’s responsible, somehow. This certainly seems like his handiwork. I’m guessing he put some kind of paralytic in my wet suit, and I suspect I’ll still be floating here, submerged, when my air tank runs out and I slowly suffocate.

And So It Begins...
Every dragon has a conscience. It may not seem so, but it's true. Even as hatchlings, we come from the shell with a knowing of what we must do. The problem is that what stirs a dragon’s conscience differs vastly from what humans think of as right and wrong. Of course, arrogant humans assume theirs is the sole notion of truth, admitting no alternate possibility. I find it odd that humans act contrary to their designated moral code far more often than any other species.
