President Trump vs The Squad of Four
BRYCE ON POLITICS - This round goes to the president. Click for AUDIO VERSION. The 2020 Presidential campaign kicked into high gear this week, not because of anything said by the Democrat candidates, such as VP Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, et al, but because of an exchange between President Trump and "The Squad" of four far-left Democrats consisting of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) (AKA, "AOC"), Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-13). These four Democrats have received notoriety based on their desire to push their party as far-left as possible. This has resulted in a fierce internal struggle among the Democrats, something that was inevitable, and long overdue.

BRYCE ON CITIZENSHIP - For Independence Day. Click for AUDIO VERSION. Have you ever watched a naturalization ceremony? This is where people from different countries around the world apply for citizenship, learn English and pass a test, renounce their homeland, and swear loyalty to their new country, the United States of America. You occasionally see it on television, but Youtube maintains a library of such services. All US citizens are descended from someone who took the same oath years earlier. With me, it was both sets of grandparents following World War I.

Trump Is Off and Running, for the 2nd Time
BRYCE ON POLITICS He hits the ground running at a mega-campaign event. Click for AUDIO VERSION. President Trump's re-election campaign kicked off this past Tuesday at the Amway Center in Orlando. This was well attended with over 20,000 people inside, and thousands outside watching the rally on large screens (120K tickets were issued). The size will undoubtedly dwarf the upcoming Democrat debate at Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, allowing no more than 2,400 people in-doors. The massiveness of the Trump rallies perplexes the news media and the Democrats. They do not understand the overwhelming support he receives. Plain and simple, they just don't get it. Then again, maybe they do, but just don't know how to respond.

The Political War of the Entertainment Media
BRYCE ON POLITICS - Was Truman Capote correct? Click for AUDIO VERSION. The liberals in Hollywood are panicking over the anti-abortion bills as put forth by states such as Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia, which will inevitably lead to a challenge of Roe vs. Wade. So much so, they are resorting to blackmail politics, telling these states, particularly Georgia, they will not film in their states if the law is implemented starting in the new year. Both Netflix and Disney have indicated they will pull out if the bill is implemented. Disney is no longer the simple film studio and amusement park we grew up with. Now it is a conglomerate consisting of Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar movies, and amusement parks, hotels, and ocean cruises around the world.

Is Impeachment Truly Necessary?

The Democrats and main stream media are currently consumed with impeaching President Trump, particularly as we approach the 2020 elections. Frankly, they are fooling nobody but themselves regarding their agenda. Even if the Democrats in the House passes charges of impeachment, they will inevitably fail in the Senate which is under Republican control.

A New Contract with America
BRYCE ON POLITICS How the Republicans can take back the House. Click for AUDIO VERSION. The Republicans have a problem. They botched control and lost the House of Representatives to the Democrats. This was not surprising, as they did not inspire public confidence and their leadership was sorely lacking. I liked Paul Ryan as a member of the House, but thought he was in over his head as Speaker. Americans saw it as nothing more than, "same old, same old," and voted them out. Had the Republicans been more aggressive and demonstrated some unity, they would still be in control. They plain and simply did not, and this is an important lesson for the Senate to observe as well.

BRYCE ON POLITICS Do you know the difference? Click for AUDIO VERSION. One of my pet peeves involving politics is when people misstate our form of government. Normally, I would claim this as the fault of uneducated young people, but many politicians and members of the press, as well as grown-ups, are also guilty of this faux pas. No, we most definitely do not live in a "democracy," but a "constitutional republic" instead, as does most of the governments in the world.

The Middle Class: Separating Capitalism from Socialism
Click for Audio Version. One of the fundamental differences between capitalism and socialism is in the area of class structure and, unfortunately, many people do not grasp this difference. Under capitalism, there are three levels: An upper class representing super successful people who have earned a fortune, the middle class representing John/Jane Doe who works diligently to put food on the table for their family, and a lower class representing the less fortunate of us. Influence is top-down based on the economic pecking order, thereby creating resentment by those lower in the chain.

The Trump Cultural Revolution

When I hear the vicious political discourse and boisterous hyperbole of today, it suggests to me the country is embroiled in a cultural revolution the likes of which we haven't seen since before the Civil War. One of the basic precepts regarding culture is, in order for a person to function and succeed, he/she must learn to conform to the culture or face rejection. Enter the ultimate outsider to our federal government, Donald Trump, a businessman who has never held political office. It is the very fact he was an outsider that propelled him to the Presidency. After all, people had grown weary of "business as usual" in the nation's capitol by both Republicans and Democrats, and were ready for a change.

Time for a National Debate on Socialism
BRYCE ON POLITICS Thanks to Rep. Alexandria Ortega-Cortez. Click for AUDIO VERSION. At the February 5, 2019 State of the Union address, President Trump threw down the gauntlet to Democrats by declaring, "America was founded on liberty and independence, and not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country." Needless to say, this was not well received by Democrats who have been moving the party in that direction for quite some time. However, this needed to be said as it opened the doors for a long-overdue discussion on the differences between capitalism and socialism, something that schools simply do not teach anymore. Not surprising ... Socialism is being embraced by millennials who do not understand the difference between the two and think it is cool and politically correct to embrace it. They do not grasp the fundamental difference between the concepts of "earning" something as opposed to "free stuff" (entitlements). Whereas one promotes industrious behavior and pride in workmanship, the other promotes a dependency on others, specifically government, thereby encouraging a master/slave mentality.
