Shadowed souls, cursed magic, poetry that tangles itself in your soul and yanks out the ugly darkness from within. Maybe there's something broken in me, but it's in you too.

Lightless
It was hot. And humid. The room tasted like summer, all wet dirt and corn sweat. Focusing on anything, let alone something as consuming as writing a novel, was bordering on insane. Or impossible. The effort of thought was strenuous enough to break a sweat. And I was already sweating.

Anima. Runner-Up in Through the Lens Challenge.
I want to witness the anima. No, that isn't right. I want to dip my hands into the ether running through the neurons of every creature's sparking thoughts and swim through their consciousness until I understand the vices of their being. I want to rip it free and chew on it until I've tasted every last molecule. It's an obsession. The yearning is so deep it terrifies me. It still isn't right. I want to hold hands with her soul.

Birds of a Feather
The picture is simple. It's the black silhouette of a small grey and white cockatiel in front of a sunset, his crest halfway up because he's finally realized that I've been standing behind him, intruding on his private viewing of the sunset.

A Shadow
Young enough to cause trouble and old enough to be trusted unsupervised, I broke off from the pack of students I was supposed to be with, feigning having to use the bathroom. A quick hop and a skip, and I was off. I didn't like that we had to digest art according to rules on a paper and I didn't like that I was here to fill out twenty questions about dates and locations, not the art itself.
