Most of the time in our work and life, we want to be somebody, just like in the village, we want to be respected, we want to make people think we are great. However, we regret to find that no matter how strong our subjective desire is, we still end up mediocre and do not become the kind of people we imagined. What is the reason? Based on my short life experience and the information I have learned from reading books, I believe that this is not just due to external reasons and birth defects, but that we subconsciously choose mediocrity. This is paradoxical. On the surface, we don't want mediocrity, but why do we subconsciously choose mediocrity? We live in this land, from birth to death, all the time under the influence of the Ming culture and latent culture. The pragmatism and realism of Chinese people is one of the most profound culture. Our parents and teachers pass on this spirit all the time, but it is realism and pragmatism that make us more mediocre. Pragmatism demands immediate results, not the long, far-off future. In most cases, the best choice of the moment is not the best choice of history. The overall reason is that our vision is often not long-term, only see now, is far from the overall optimal judgment. Generally speaking, Westerners like to take risks. They are willing to try their best to struggle without knowing any result, so that even if not all of them can succeed, they have gone out of the range of local minimum. The over-emphasis on practical interests also limits the breadth and depth of our thinking, so that we always think about the problems around us, rather than thinking about the broader problem. Our emphasis on the outcome is far more than the process of success and failure history has taught us too much, that is, must be a good outcome. In fact, no one knows how to achieve a good ending. If the result is bad, then the person is bad. We tend to judge a person as good or bad, and this black and white binary thinking obliterates the complex and rich nature of human nature. When a person in the scenery, many of us follow to support and praise, but not to see his success process and real experience, nor to admire the various spirit worth analyzing, we look at the surface of things, which makes us often lose the opportunity to grow up. We can look at all kinds of literature and history books in history, few of them are objective and most of them are one-sided. This is a culture that doesn't lend itself to meaningful exploration because we don't really respect so-called losers. Most of us grow up with a lazy mind, unwilling to think about current problems, always expecting someone to give us a ready answer. Who says Chinese people diligent, diligent only in physical labor, but a lot of times we do not want to use the brain. We waste too much time on small things and too much attention on talking. France's Le Pen detailed a similar phenomenon in his book "The Rabble". Why a good person, finally can be led to a dangerous point by a leader. This enlarging of group psychology results in each individual losing their independent self and even taking pride in participating in it. In the day after day, year after year of life, gradually fall into it, unable to extricate themselves. The pressure of survival makes it physically and mentally tired, without the past spirit, more nothing to do and strive for action, push all rhetoric to the outside environment. () This is a society where people are impetuous, and you can't change it by yourself; But you can change yourself, let yourself calm down to do a thing deep, do thoroughly, do others unparalleled degree. Our greed makes us think about the maximum benefit every time we face a choice, rather than choosing what we can do. Greed disturbs the peace of mind, confuses the eyes and loses the direction. A lot of time and resources are wasted in vain. It's not that we don't have the potential to be outstanding, nor do we have the conditions to be useful talents. We eventually become mediocre people, and become dispensable people in the society, which is the result of our subconscious choice. We are too realistic and pay too much attention to the result, we are too lazy and too greedy. It seems that we can only be "happy" with it.
