Duty
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. That is a Groundling saying. Thumpers have a totally different saying, “When a Thumper is near, no can can hear you scream, because you are dead” The saying ends with a roar and thumping on the chest or ground. 1st Mate Tank Thumper the 21st jumped out of his body ship with a deafening roar and a heavy welcoming thump on the dusty dirt of the plateau, picked as a perfect landing site. Tank thump on his chest for pure joy.

Road's End
“There weren't always dragons in the valley; and there hasn't always been magic in this land, not after the Empire came and establish itself to the west. Not so long ago this valley.” Rin waved across the whole of the beginning of Lirg's Valley, “was a desolated end creating a shadowy gate to the Lirg's Mountains. Mountains so high and rough, only the rock creatures could make a home there. And many of them didn't exist either due to the ravage of Lirg's destruction.” Rin's voice boomed belying his size. He is a short barrel of a being, one of the Asissh. He had started out life as a farmer in the land right surrounding the Spine Mountains. Rin had seen what Lirg's Valley had looked like before the dragons had come to stay and bring back the magic. Rin was now something a bit more now, something a bit more than a storyteller. Rin continued with his statement, pointing to behind the younglings back.

Rat Bastard
“Rat Bastard must die!” screamed at him. “Why? You ask, Yes I can see it in your eyes, the question, why? I will tell you because it is why you are here, isn’t it. In the end it is the why which brings them all.” There is a pause and then with a whisper it begins.

Rainbow in Flight
Somewhere in our past: Sunlight speared through the leaves of the palm leaves from all Aguaje palm trees lining the edge of the grove. Here in the jungle with no name except to the locals, the trees were ripe with their fruit, which brought his children to the trees. He stood looking up into the sky towards the top of the palms past the heavy hanging fruit. The sky was filled with bits of rainbow, as he had always intended.

Thalassophobia
Crunch, crunch went her boots on the path. EE stopped on the uphill climb of the interior overhang of the cavern. She felt the little pebbles of rock shift around her boots, making the path unsafe for any kind of shoe but ones designed for uneven ground. Few people ventured into this cave anymore, since the National Park had closed it to the public. This path took her to the pool.

Second Stage
Plop, plop plop. Noise in drops. Sounds exploding in my head making my jaw ache. Opening my eyes, colors assault me like spears of light to my brain as it scrambles to decipher the input. My tongue feels heavy and dry. I find myself sucking on my tongue and swallowing repeatedly, to get saliva flowing. I try to recall simple information as I figure out where I am. Opening my eyes wider but what I see is confusing.

Elements
As dawn lit up the edges of the Otherlands. Ninhil, breathtaking beauty of darkness, squatted at the edge of the Pond; the frozen edge. Just as light crested the horizon, xir wings unfurled with a force sweeping across the earth behind xem causing dirt mixed with flakes of snow to swirl in mini spirals upward. The movement left a tremor in the ground, also seen in small ripples under the ice in the Pond. Ninhil left xir wings out, feathers fanning currents in the air of the Otherlands. If there were witnesses of Ninhil's daily routine, their breath would be taken away by Ninhil's beauty. Beauty, cold and dark, leaving an impression in one's mind, similar to the feeling created from seeing the Pond.

The Fountain
Pauline sat looking at Harold. He was a blind date; who her sister had hooked her up with. He wasn’t bad looking, just looked his age. He was three years older than her and she was forty seven. She really hated thinking about her age, much less saying out loud. Since she had turned forty, she had begun to think of herself as old.
