As the International Space Station (ISS) nears its 25th year in orbit, a veteran NASA astronaut is challenging the prevailing assumption that the orbital laboratory must be retired by 2030. Dr. Karen Nyberg, an engineer and former NASA astronaut who has spent nearly six months aboard the ISS, believes the station can continue operating safely and effectively well beyond the next five years.
