Movie Review: 'Rucker' is a Shockingly Dull Serial Killer Flick
Rucker is an ugly and stupid little movie about truck driving serial killer and a budding sociopath documentary filmmaker. The movie is a pointless and meandering splatter movie that wanders the highways and byways of the United States in search of an ever elusive point. The point is never found and what is in its place is a dimwitted, often deeply confusing movie that pretends to be a boundary pushing horror-comedy.

Movie Review: 'The Scary of 61st' Posits a Jeffrey Epstein Conspiracy Horror Movie
The Scary of 61st is a creepy, macabre, horror movie that centers around none other than Jeffrey Epstein. The horror movie from writer director Dasha Nekrasova posits a world in which the evil of Jeffrey Epstein was the manifestation of a demon which possesses and destroys the roommates who move into one of Epstein’s former stash houses, apartments where Epstein is alleged to have imprisoned very young women before they were then traded like currency amongst Epstein’s uber-rich friends around the world.

Movie Review: 'Double Walker' is a Smart, Scary Take on Murder Mystery and Revenge
Double Walker is a trippy take on a murder mystery with the victim as the investigator and avenging angel. Sylvie Mix stars in Double Walker as The Ghost. We never learn her name and our introduction to The Ghost defies expectations. As the story begins, a man is in a park with his dog. The dog runs off into a nearby forest and finds a young woman hiding in the forest. She’s wearing only a long white t-shirt and she doesn’t speak.

Antlers stars Keri Russell as Julia Meadows, a troubled young teacher who has moved back to her home state in Oregon to get back on her feet. Classic Horror Movie Review: 'The Descent'
6 women on a cave exploring trip find themselves face to face with underground cave-dwelling cannibals. It sounds goofy, but as executed in the sensational horror film The Descent it's a terrifying series of gory, edge of your seat, horror that you watch through your fingers. Writer-director Neil Marshall who became known as the director of the much talked about but little seen Dog Soldiers, nails moments of pure, honest ,terror, a rarity in modern horror, by using his unique location and suffocating close up photography and lighting.

My Top 5 Favorite Horror Movies of All Time. Top Story - October 2021.
Halloween is about candy, fun, costumes and great scares. It’s also about horror movies, the official film genre of Halloween. With that in mind, I decided to lay out my list of my Top 5 All Time Favorite Horror Movies. My choices are both traditional and non-traditional. I have at least one all timer that goes on just about any list of favorite horror movies and two movies that have divided fans who either love these movies and the filmmaker behind them or loathe them. Regardless of how you feel about my list, be sure to get in touch with me and tell me what your favorite horror movies are on Twitter where my handle is @PodcastSean.

Classic Horror Movie Review: 'Wrong Turn' (2003)
Halloween is upon us and with that the need to watch many, many horror movies. With that in mind, I have been watching horror after horror after horror movie, in my pursuit to review as many horror movies as possible. It was this quest that brought me to revisit a horror movie of my past as a critic. In 2003, I reviewed the horror movie Wrong Turn and I hated it. Was I wrong? Is my 2021 perspective different? The movie isn't, but perhaps I am a little different.

Movie Review: 'Halloween Kills' Starring Jamie Lee Curtis
Halloween Kills stars Jamie Lee Curtis once again in the role of Laurie Strode. If you recall the previous entry in this franchise, you will remember that Laurie, along with her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), trapped Michael Myers/The Shape, inside of Laurie’s home and set the place on fire. It appeared that they’d put a stop to Michael for good but the next time we see them, riding to the hospital to save Laurie’s life, firefighters are on their way to an unfortunate rescue.

Movie Review: 'The Retaliators'
The Retaliators stars Michael Lombardi as Bishop, a widowed pastor in a small town. His life is rather perfect, raising two beautiful daughters, teenager Sarah (Katie Kelly) and pre-teen, Rebecca (Abbey Hafer), and overseeing a thriving parish. Familial tension arises mostly through restrictions like curfews and time spent looking at phones. There is also a small matter of Sarah thinking her dad isn’t strong as we watch him allow a bully to take the Christmas tree he and his daughter’s had just chosen from a tree lot. Bishop sees this as a teachable moment about turning the other cheek. Sarah sees it as weakness.

Classic Movie Review: God Told Me To
God Told Me To is a 1976 horror-thriller from legendary B-movie director Larry Cohen and it’s a movie that deserves a chance for a remake. Inside of God Told Me To there is a very good religious based horror movie dying to get out. Sadly, Larry Cohen only found the seeds of that great horror movie and never fully cultivated those seeds into a satisfying final product. What we get instead is a half of an excellent movie and half of a bizarre, outlandish and outright terrible movie.

Movie Review: 'The Night House' Starring Rebecca Hall
The Night House stars Rebecca Hall as Beth, a recently widowed teacher dealing with the aftermath of her husband, Owen’s, suicide. Deeply disillusioned and jaded by her husband’s decision to kill himself, Beth struggles to not be the subject of anyone’s pity. Beth would like little more than to get back to her life and go back to work and put the past behind her but something in her home continues to draw her back toward grief.

Movie Review: 'Detention'
Detention is a Taiwanese horror movie that uses the tools of the genre to tell a story of Taiwanese history and the vile threat of authoritarian dictatorship. Directed by John Hsu, Detention is based on a video game, of the same title, from Red Candle Games that was released in 2017. Both the game and the movie make use of the aesthetics of horror to tell a deeper and richer story in a clever package.
