Dragonsong- The Quest Begins
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Flower sprites, pixies, dwarves and satyrs had existed in that place since time out of mind. Every now and again a phoenix would find a tranquil spot to roost there; among the boughs of ancient Golden Oak trees which were so tall they caressed the clouds.

A Flurry of Feathers
A large, majestic barn owl glides silently across an empty night sky. The moon is nearly full and the woods down below are carpeted in thick white snow, freshly fallen and yet unmarred by footfalls. Bare branches rattle in an icy breeze and even the coursing river is frozen in its bed. The world is peaceful, at least for now.

To Join the Dance
A bright new moon hangs low in the sky. It is thin and sharpened as the farmer’s sickle when the grain is ripe for harvest. There are heavy clouds this night which hide the stars from view. They shroud the land in eerie shadows that stretch, ripple, and obscure the bodies of one million voices. Voices that croak and whine and hum; voices that rumble and purr and chirp. This is the band. A Strange Package
Jerome Sanderson had a problem with his mail service. Every few days a white mail truck would come barreling down Maudlin Avenue and screech to a stop outside his weather-beaten house. The mailman would then unceremoniously toss his packages all over the front lawn and speed away. It was an infuriating routine but after six successive complaints and two threats of legal action nothing had ever been done. So Jerome grit his teeth and bided his time until he could move into a new place, hopefully one with a better package delivery service.

Marvin's Birthday Party
For most of his young life Marvin Bog was an only child. It was a tremendous, great, wonderful thing to be an only child, or so he would have told anyone who asked. Every Christmas and each birthday he got every single thing his heart desired. He had a large screen t.v., every new gaming console that ever came out, a gaming p.c and an iPad. As far as pets went he had two dogs and a slider turtle, an aquarium full of exotic fish, a cage of lovebirds, two cats and an iguana named Morty. His allowance was $200 a month which he got without ever doing chores and he got extra pocket money just to treat his school friends after school. Everyone in Marvin’s entire family treated him like a little prince.

A New Adventure
The apartment, if such a small dwelling could be called an apartment, was actually the top floor of an old book shop on the corner of Church and Old Lovelace. Most buildings on the block had long since been abandoned but the shop remained open. Its plate glass window was simply stamped with the word “BOOKS” in fading gold paint.
