All about umbilical cords
I posted this short piece about nuchal cords on Facebook recently, and it was my most popular post ever! It generated a lot of interesting discussion. I followed it up with another post with more information, which I've put at the bottom.

21 things to try while you are waiting for labour to begin (updated)
Maybe your “due date” is approaching. This post is for you. Maybe it’s come and gone, and you’re still here, still pregnant. This post is for you. Maybe you’re fed up of being pregnant, or impatient to meet your baby. Or maybe you're revelling in these final days of pregnancy. Maybe you have been booked for an induction and maybe this is a source of relief for you (finally!!) or maybe it is causing you anxiety. Maybe you would prefer to decline it. Basically, if your pregnancy is almost over, this post is for you.

Did you know...?
Did you know that stem cells from your baby travel back across the placenta to help heal you if you need it? Some of your baby cells migrate to your body and back - it's called mother foetal microchimerism. Some of those cells stay with you forever. Your baby is literally a part of you, all your life. Becoming a mother changes you at the cellular level.

Permission to roar
I think some mothers sit on their birth story because they don't feel it's "good enough" to share. Maybe you planned to stay home, but transferred to hospital. Maybe you had a c-section. Maybe you turned the air blue with every contraction, when you hoped to cope quietly. Maybe you believed that this would be a sign of strength or success.
