The Reckoning of Wolf Mine
Alice kneeled on the frozen pond, skin burning with cold. She wanted to move, but couldn’t. A face rose from the water beneath the ice, and pressed against it, eyes wide. The face was hers with slight variations. Its lips moved but Alice heard nothing. Neither could she hear herself scream as she began to pound her fists against the ice.

They Don’t Make ‘em Like This Anymore
Ched read the memo one more time and grinned; the blood was in the water, and he’d be the first shark there. He was in Acquisitions for MemCo. the finest purveyors of quantum VR entertainment. They were also now the first and only company able to extract and re-construct memories from persons with brain damage. On the PR side they were already running ads of Alzheimer’s patients watching their own memories, holding hands with their loving families. He wasn’t here for that fluffy bullshit. He wanted blood. Tears. Gratuitous nudity – the stuff that shocked, turned heads and moved volume.

How to Get over a Bad Breakup
I’ve always felt like an alien. I never know how I should react. When I see the soft curve of Angie’s shoulders and back barely lit by the light spilled in from the door, I get nostalgic. I know what it’s like to be in there, in that bed, underneath that body. Everything feels right; I don’t have to think or worry. All our words are soft, and we lie there and laugh in our little world of clean polyester bedding and downy pillows. Our hopes and dreams are in that little fortress of floral patterns. Instead, it’s Johnny underneath her. He’s oblivious, raptured inside that world, exploring every inch of it. Angie’s face switches from ecstasy to shock in a moment. They both turn, deer in the hall light.
