The need for socialization among students is naturally motivated by both altruism and self-interest. Friendships sprout among similar people. The best of jokes are shared at dorms where all students throng to have a good time together. During late-night study groups, students openly discuss their classwork and express frustrations over difficult topics through a shared sense of understanding. Even with these positive things happening in campus hostels, there are also incidents that remind student life is not completely a bed of roses. Alcoholism and drug addiction rate in institutions of higher learning is alarming implying that young people indulge in bad habits as they strive to attend parties or meet up with friends during holidays. In fact some student deaths can be traced back to excessive drinking while others committed suicide after being dumped by their lovers.
