Verdigris Stars
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky before fading to cerulean depths scattered by amber and verdigris stars. Silas Eccru sat on the apartment roof past curfew, gazing up at the display, questioning the current trajectory of his life. The answer eluded him, his wings quivering against their restraining straps on his back. Collecting his things, he descended the fire escape, sliding into his open window. Landing upon this bed with a soft thud, he dared not remain outside past curfew, not as a Peculiar.

Dream Quest:
I knew I was playing a video game, piloting the main character, a mighty warrior, and her non-player companions. We were floating down a river on a raft directed by my newest companion, a soft-leather-clad fellow with knives hidden all over his person. He acted as our guide on our recent quest, pleasantly providing historical and world information as I played the rafting mini-game, keeping the raft away from the edges of the river and rocks.

TimeBox Oddity
Hazle Marks received the call she dreaded most; in the middle of the night. Her father was dying, fading fast. She hustled out of bed, tossing on her house shoes and coat. Driving into town, she turned into Homestead Hospice Care and performed the worst parking job she had ever done. Slamming the car door, she did not bother to lock it. Instead, Hazle walked as fast as she could inside. A nurse, whose nametag said “Lyn,” waited outside her father’s room for her arrival. Her heart beat loud within her chest. Her emotions roiled inside her, ready to burst.

Vivid Dreams
Dealing with the Dragon: My family and I were running, fighting an enormous black dragon. We were all suited in armor and brandishing various weapons. Despite wearing different faces, races, and armor, we knew each other. They were avatars or characters like in Dungeons and Dragons or a video game.

This one old journaling practice has changed my life!
What is a commonplace book? Oxford Languages defines a commonplace book as "a book into which notable extracts from other works are copied for personal use." I first heard of it as a kid reading about a character who kept one. I'm not certain which book exactly, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and the V.F.D. And I am enjoying a hit of nostalgia while writing and researching, locating the quote I remember from his novel, "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography."
