Manufactured Relaxation
Back when I was a national-level fencer, I discovered something about sports that I have yet to see professional teams implement. There were always the top guys; the ones who consistently finished in the top 16 or top 8. They were the people the rest of us looked to in fear and trepidation. They were the ones who looked bored with the beginning stages of the tournament because they knew it was going to come down to the same few people they would have to beat like always.

The DC Problem
Detective Comics, or DC, has a major problem with the fundamental aspect of its universe. Every violent confrontation has no basis in reality given the rules established by the writers and characters. In theory, every supposed conflict in the DC universe should end with one of the many godlike beings using their godlike abilities to end the problem pretty much instantaneously.

Being Good is Worthless
Being Good is Worthless It is my overwhelming experience in life that good people do not succeed in this world. There seems to be no benefit to behaving in an honorable or moral way when your life could improve by acting through completely selfish means. This does not mean I think every person should only fight for themselves. Instead, I feel it would be far more ideal for people to no longer concern themselves about the morality of their actions or decisions.

The Real Independence Day
Do not celebrate July 4th. Any American who is not a heterosexual white man did NOT receive independence on the Fourth of July. People of color were still lucky to be considered third-class humans since almost none of them were allowed to be citizens. Several were still enslaved, raped, murdered, beaten down, tortured, exiled, or all of the above. Women wouldn’t receive the right to vote for over 140 years.

Depression Journal Day 1
I started reading this book a week ago called “Get It Done When You’re Depressed”. It’s written by a woman named Julie Fast and has some insights from Dr. John Preston. I was surprised that page number 1 had something useful. Julie doesn’t waste words or belabor points in the book. The tips are straightforward, practical, and applicable in an average person’s life without downplaying or invalidating your individual experience with depression.

Locke and Key Season 1 Review
Objective Critique Locke and Key is a decent show appropriate for mature children and teens with elements of fantasy and relationship drama that hearkens back to the late 90's and early 2000's. Three children, and their mom, move across the country to their father’s hometown only to discover that there was more to his old house than they were led to believe.

Revolutionary Technology vs Changing Technology
Technology like the printing press, the internet, and social media have not revolutionized media, or its mediums. The technology only makes media’s distribution, and storage easier, and more efficient without changing the inherent nature of the media. A book read on a Kindle has the same content, and context as that same book read on paper, because the historical trends of media have remained unchanged for thousands of years.
