Allah's Mercy and a Merchant's Return
Many years ago, in the city of Damascus, Syria, there resided a prosperous merchant named Abdul Rahman. He was a cunning businessman, but he frequently turned to unethical methods to accumulate wealth. His enterprise flourished on loans based on interest, as he lent money to the needy at exorbitant interest rates and harshly demanded his payments. A Life of Injustice and Oppression One day, a destitute farmer named Yasir approached Abdul Rahman and implored, ?O kind merchant, my land has not produced good crops this season, and my family is facing starvation. Please lend me some money; I will repay you during the next harvest. ? But Abdul Rahman coldly replied, ?I am not here to show compassion. If you require a loan, you must repay it with interest. ? Yasir , feeling desperate, accepted the cruel terms. Nevertheless, after several months, his crops continued to fail, and he was unable to settle the debt. Abdul Rahman mercilessly took possession of Yasir?s land. The villagers were sorrowful over this injustice, but none were brave enough to confront him. The Arrival of a Mysterious Traveler One day, a mysterious elderly man came to Damascus. His attire was plain, yet his eyes gleamed with wisdom. He strode directly to Abdul Rahman?s shop and inquired, ?O merchant, do you understand what true wealth is? ? Abdul Rahman, taken aback, responded, ?Certainly! Wealth consists of gold, silver, and profits from business. ? The elderly man beamed and remarked, ?True wealth is Allah?s mercy and virtuous actions. One day, all your riches will disappear, but if you pursue justice and generosity, Allah will bestow upon you treasures that will endure eternally. ? Abdul Rahman mocked the elderly man's statements and waved him off. However, that night, he experienced a horrifying dream. He witnessed all his wealth being obliterated, his mountains of treasure reduced to ash, and himself wandering aimlessly in a vast desert, devoid of water or shelter. A Warning from Allah He awoke in a state of panic. The following morning, when he arrived at his shop, he was horrified to discover that a band of thieves had ransacked his entire warehouse. His business was in shambles. He then remembered the words of the old man and realized this was a warning from Allah. He searched high and low for the old man, but he was nowhere to be seen. Desperate and filled with remorse, Abdul Rahman went to a mosque and cried as he sought forgiveness from Allah. He pledged to devote the remainder of his life to righteousness and integrity. Returning to the Path of Truth and Charity The next day, he found Asir and restored his land to him. In addition, he announced, ?From today forward, I will charge no interest; instead, I will assist the impoverished. ? The citizens of the city were amazed by this change. They witnessed how a merciless businessman had received Allah?s guidance and transformed into a virtuous and charitable individual.

In the center of the thick forest stood an ancient, forsaken bungalow. The villagers thought it to be cursed. Years earlier, an entire family had mysteriously died there, and since that time, no one had dared to remain in the house for long.
