2024 is the time to thrive.
Before 2023, my last submission to Vocal was a short piece for 2021's FFXIV Write challenge. FFXIV players respond to a series of written prompts that are released over the course of a month, sharing tales of their characters' adventures in the world of Eorzea. This started on Tumblr and has expanded to Twitter, if I recall correctly, but it's been a while since I paid attention.

The Debt Dragon and Me (and You)
This was the first post on my Substack when I initially dedicated it to my battle with survival debt. I was going to talk about my journey to eliminate the debts I've built up over the past 13 years there, and how my 2023 ADHD diagnosis factors into everything I've dealt with. Since I deleted my Substack I have since decided to stick to Vocal.Media and my Buy Me A Coffee page.

I'm Terrible at Titles Because of ADHD. Top Story - November 2023.
An idea. A whisper of a thought. A brief spark of inspiration—and then it's gone and whatever grabbed my attention takes over completely and I'm left at a loss, trying to figure out what it was that I had wanted to do before my brain so rudely hit the reset button on itself.

Where She Rambles On
Alright, self, the past year hasn't been too kind. Neither was the year before that, or the one before that, or the past decade, really, now that we think about it. It's been worse for other people, a lot worse, but I've still had a pretty lousy go of late.

My 6 Fave Productivity Tools
Working from home can be an adventure. For a lot of people it's the kids, for me it's the parents -- whatever I'm able to get done has to happen when I'm the only one at home, or when I can manage to hide away in my room. For those moments when I'm working from the library or something, though (because nothing can compete with the television volume in this household) there are a handful of apps and sites that help keep me focused on the task at hand.

The Awful Truth About Fake Geek Girls
They stalk conventions in skimpy costumes, spending money on geeky merchandise, all to sink their claws into and seduce an unsuspecting Real Geek Boy. They'll flutter those fake eyelashes as they slink into a conversation on the latest installment of your favourite video game franchise, but don't let them fool you, they aren't

Challenging Our Negative Thoughts
Our brains can be assholes. When you're suffering from depression or a related illness, your brain is basically stuck in asshole-mode. It defaults to telling you all sorts of lies about how you can't do anything, how you're a failure, this, that, the other thing.
