At the Lake
We planned to spend five days in the Lake area. That’s Lake Ozark in Missouri, (home of Bagnell Dam, the dam that blocks the Osage River and creates Lake of the Ozarks) and Eldon where our kids live.

The First Leg
I had the perfect name for this week’s letter blog. I thought of it while we were traveling. You’d better write it down, I told myself. Nah, I’ll remember it, myself told me. Did I — do I remember it? NO! It’s gone! Just gone! Right out of my head. I’ve thought of lots of names since then but none of them as perfect as that one was. In light of that, we shall continue and call this one The First Leg.

September is here. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind when I sit down to visit with you today. September is here, and I bet you knew that. I also bet that you know Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are just around the corner, waiting in the wings, and it won’t be long. Then we get to start a new year.

Bondi! Bondi! Bondi!
“I took Mick for a walk to check out the blackberries,” my beautiful friend Jody said of her German Shorthaired Pointer. “They were just coming on. I found very few. The deer and bear have hit them hard. It was a nice morning for a walk and I saw lots of fairy’s wash, as your mother would say.”

Bondi
I’ve been praying for a new pup to come into our life for months now. It was hard losing our two little Yorkies in the same year, but after a year, I was ready to love another. Mike, my husband, thought he’d like to have a Blue Heeler but they start at twelve-hundred dollars!

I have found so many interesting plants and insects this week that I could spend hours searching the internet trying to identify them. In the end, does it really matter if this is a Short-stalked Damselfly, Doubleday’s Bluet, or a Circumpolar Bluet? Even looking at side-by-side pictures in my bug book doesn’t help me decide which one he is. But I do know this. It’s a damselfly. Damselflies rest their wings along their body whereas dragonflies rest them horizontally.

No Time for Living
I think I spent too much time in front of my computer this week. When I do that, it doesn’t leave much time for living. As a result, I don’t have much in the line of stories or pictures to share with you. But I do have a few, so let’s get on with it, shall we?

The Big C
It started a little over a year ago. My handsome husband wasn’t feeling well. Mike was short of breath and couldn’t make it from the recliner to the kitchen without stopping to rest, plus he was having pain in his left calf. It didn’t take long to find out he had blood clots in his lungs. They took him right from being diagnosed to being admitted to the ICU.
