Odysseus
Odysseus, Odysseus.. Rise out of your tomb! Her words were soothing as she appeared as an apportion hovering above his immortal body within the chamber. The limestone chamber glowed in a green essence from the luminous stalagmites that formed like glass. Odysseus did not stir inside his tomb since he had been dead for many years. The Sorcerous Nausicaa poured a strong herbal mixture of flowers & venom to evoke his spirit. She was told by the three old witches that the potion would work. The Island of Aiaia off the coast of Rome was where the Nymphs existed high upon a palace overlooking the Ionian sea. Odysseus had perished at the ripe old age of one hundred. The spear had been removed while the manta ray poison seeped upon his garment dress that was left unchanged with the body being taken to a burial cave. The nymphs missed him being a King, longing for his presence. Constructing a awakening potion had taken years of searching for the onion type bulb that had been described in the ancient books. It was Nausicaa who discovered the flower where she mixed it with the same poison he died from ingesting. Now, in her surreal dream essence she came to him, crying out his name while spilling the potion over his sarcophagus. Her long strands of hair flowing in the wind became part of her spell as she poured the vessel to evoke her love. The chamber began to rumble as her chanting continued with the venom spilling over the tomb. Then the rumbling sounded as thunder as it cracked an opening splitting open the marble. A voice within cried out. Sorcerous why have you awakened me? A muscled hand veined from old age slipped through the opening, moving away the rumble. Nausicaa remained hovering above while Odysseus sat up. Birds that had nested in the crystal caverns flew away frightened at the sight. The stagnant musty air hung thick as death had dissipated. Nausicaa came down from above making herself the same size as the Mycenaean King. His crown he still held upon his head while his body ached from the pit of death. She led him to a nearby pool of ocean water, bathing his wound while he breathed through lungs renewed of life. His heart pounded again while outside the entrance it began to rain. Although he was reborn, Odysseus was stuck in his elderly body that the Sorcerous hadn’t a potion for. That was until one day she saw a strange man at the top of the sea cliff. He stood motionless wearing the feathers of a bird attached to his arms. Flapping them with the wind she saw him step off the cliff. Being in the years of BC the world was entirely different to the people who were believed to be descendants of Gods & Goddesses who ruled above within the clouds. Mythical creatures were said to exist such as Centaurs, Minotaurs, Gryphons, & Harpies. The Earth being with young particles seemed to breath with a high amount of either in the air. The essence made people enlightened where some felt they could obtain the unobtainable. This was the case with Icarus. Watching him from the shore, he flew up towards the Sun thinking he could take a piece of its fire. The beeswax he used to coat the feathers began to drip as he flew higher & higher. Falling to the sea, his wings melted crashing with the waves. Nausicaa swam out to the drowning man. Dragging him to the shore she found herself looking into his eyes that were as blue as the sea. Asking him why he created the wings, wondering if he was a man bird. Gasping at his failure to capture the Sun, he had no answer. She asked if Apollo had instructed him, looking up at the clouds. No, no he said as he stood within the sand Nausicca noticed his hand that tried to grasp the Sun was glowing gold. He walked away from her as she thought he must be a wondering soul. His body covered with sea salt & feathers drifted down the beach. She went back to the cave to tell Odysseus about her encounter. The laid together by the cave pond that held exotic fish & shells. The velvet algae covered rocks were soft to sit upon. While she was relating about the man bird she hadn’t noticed that her hand was glowing in gold, the same as Icarus. Odysseus asked about her hand. She had no explanation except that she had touched his hand while they conversed about the Sun. Taking her gold hand within his, the King felt the warmth of the Sun while the glowing of light moved to his palm. Thinking it was a miracle of the Gods, the light illuminated his being, transforming his elderly body to a renewed state. Years of old age melted off as his flesh became young again. Nausicaa was astonished as she knew she needn’t search for a youth potion. The Sun had done the unthinkable. Gazing into the pool of fish he admired his reflection of a golden body that pumped with life that overwhelmed him with joy. Wandering deeper within the cave he found a strange circle made of vines that stood erect underneath an opening in the ceiling. He asked Nausicaa what it was, as she explained. During a thunderstorm that Zeus provides the electric bolt he throws strikes the vines making a portal to the other island. Odysseus couldn’t believe in something supernatural, not understanding what a portal is. Running his palms upon the vines his touch of a golden hand ignited the structure where an image of the island of Ogygia emerged in the ripples. Your hand has opened the entrance to Ogygia! If you care to venture, step this way. Nausicaa stepped through showing that she stood upon the beach of Ogygia. Odysseus followed uncertain of its mythological nature. There upon the shore stood Calypso who greeted them in excitement with open arms. Her dwelling was different than Nausicaa’s as she owned animals such as lions & horses to wander her stucco home. Lyre music played by slaves echoed in her chamber instead of Nausicaa’s love for the solitude of dripping water. She too was a Sorceress wearing a decorated toga of purple leaves with a matching laurel crown. Overjoyed that she had company she hadn’t recognized Odysseus in his new body. When Nausicaa told how she revived him with a potion her eyes seemed to freeze while her thoughts tried to comprehend. Realizing that Nausicaa must be a healer she asked her more of her medicine. It’s a matter of nature, if one is bitten by a snake, then I use a tiny fragment of the venom mixed with stalagmite crystals. If one is stung by a bee, I mix an ointment of bee venom to abstract the poison. One cannot use bee venom on a snake bite, or visa versa. How does one cure a headache or stomach ache being no bite from a creature? Their are many minerals & plants used for pain relief. I apply velerian root for the head, while calcium for the stomach. Amazing! Calypso wanted to celebrate with the drinking of wine. I could use some of your powders after drinking much wine! Im just happy that she has a friend who she can confine in, as I thought she was too much alone. Odysseus expressed as the sun began to set. Calypso showed them to a room where they could sleep until morning. A tray of bread & fruit was set on a table. Tomorrow i shall show you my boat she said as a calm breeze blew through a seaside window. The next day they ate more fruits with goat milk while conch horns blew outside to celebrate the morning. Taking her two friends by their arms they set out to the shore where a small boat stood upon the waves. Odysseus recognized the features of a carved wooden horse that made up the figurehead. How seeing such a sight brought back age old memories of his Trojan horse. Stepping aboard the three set the sails drifting into the wind. It was a beautiful time to relax, telling tales in the warm summer air. The boat made Odysseus dream of Helen of Troy as he could almost see her blond hair that he knew so long ago. As he slept with the two women under the stars he thanked the Gods while the waves rocked the boat under the blanket of stars. Late into the night, they drifted to where the Constellations moved having Castor & Pollux the twins overhead. They were interested with the fruit that lay about, as it had turned into golden fruit by the touch of Odysseus. Little did they know they were drifting into dangerous territory off the coast of Argos where beneath the sea was caged a Kraken put there by Hades, god of the underworld. Spies of Vultures began to swirl above the small sailing boat that recognized Odysseus alive & well. Hades sat on his chair of forgetfulness in the city of Olympus surrounded by his underworld torches. His buzzards flew in to nark that they had found a boat where Odysseus had risen from the dead. Outraged by the embarrassment of not keeping those who had fallen rise, he fell into oblivion. He swore at the scavenger birds to release the Kraken! The cage to the Kraken was located deep in an underground dungeon that had many chains that hoisted open the bars. The metal had rusted from ages of sea water & let out a screeching sound that rumbled the earth as it slowly rose. The Kraken swam out at an enormous speed heading straight for the boat that he mistook as a giant seahorse. Castor & Pollux could only observe while clouds of spilled milk that created the Milky Way obscured their vision. The kraken with its mighty tentacles reached up grasping the little boat knocking it over to where Odysseus fell overboard. Not seeing what had hit him he thrashed in the dark sea until the kraken struck him unconscious as he fell many phantoms in the depths of the sea. Poseidon had been guarding the cage & came to assist the fallen King Odysseus. He lifted his body with his trident carrying him to his underwater home. He tried to revive him, but he could not as his body had turned to a statue. Taking him back to Ithaca he was buried a second time where outside his tomb there is a glow of golden light.
