The Tangibility of Dreams
I was told I was going to die today. The news was aimed at me, point blank. The specialist rattled off facts that hit my ringing ears like spent shell casing meeting concrete. The barrel of a gun pressed flush to the space between my eyes as he detailed the way my body was set to destroy itself. Finger already on the trigger and poised to pull as he told me the statistics for survival. A pretty way of saying ‘buy your coffin now while it's on sale’.

Earth and Ash
His house was immaculate, all grandeur and gold. Gilded frames of priceless art that reflected off the perfectly polished marble floors and columns that accentuated the unnecessarily tall ceilings. Everywhere you look there is proof of wealth; on one side there is a wall of water cascading into a pool of precious stones, on the other, a wall is draped with a tapestry that must have taken an age to hand weave- the story of some civilisation long since lost to time.

Chasing Shadows in the Dark
The show lights are eerie in the dark. Statues monstrous in the shadows, and painted faces appear tormented in their permanence. I’ve been on the job for months and the graveyard shift still gives me chills. The air-ducts creak, but otherwise it's so quiet my heartbeat echoes in my ears.
