The House These Words Built
"The words you speak become the house you live in." ~ Hafiz Someday in the distant future, it might be said that the books I wrote resemble a majestic mansion ensconced amidst bucolic pastures. Oh yes, educated folks will come from far and wide to gawk at the palatial splendour of this metaphoric estate. Don't believe me, do you?

Tome of The Sixth Sun
Over the last couple of years, Obsidian Eagle has been working on the third book of his Lunacy Trilogy. It's still a work in progress but it's already running longer than either one of its predecessors. Up until now, I've been releasing it chapter by chapter exclusively on Medium. However, since there's no reason to limit my readership I've started re-releasing it here on Vocal too. You'll find a listing of available chapters further down. But first, I'd like to explain a few features showcased by this new fiction series.

The Cricket's Call. Top Story - August 2021.
In the midst of all the heat lately, an old memory resurfaced concerning our diminutive friend, the common cricket. It's little-known nowadays, but various ancient cultures seem to have held this critter in rather high regard. I first became aware of that fact when I stumbled across the following passage written by a modern mystic (Samael Aun Weor):

The Codex Cube
As any seasoned writer worth their salt can tell you, one's muse may at times manifest itself as nothing less than an incurable madness. Such was the case with my second book. Despite being well aware that no publisher would ever want to pick it up, and although I knew beforehand that few readers were going to be able to slog through its incessant tomfoolery, I insisted not only on writing the damn thing—but even worse—I paid to self-publish it!

7 Best Lost Bands From The 90s
The 1990's were a golden age for alternative rock and grunge as well as what some critics might call popular punk. Today I'm going to take you on a stroll down memory lane to revisit seven of the best lesser known bands of that bygone era. I do anticipate catching a bit of flack due to my loose criteria for the 'lost' label. So just to be clear, when I say lost I generally mean bands that aren't around making music anymore or that you're not going to hear nowadays on most mainstream channels / radio stations. I also don't mean one hit wonder groups, although there may be a few of them in here. Alright? Let's begin (in alphabetical order)...

Bunker Rock Reviews: Ashes Fly Like Memories
Release Date: December 21st 2020 We're going to do something a bit different today on BRR. Up until now, our reviews have been about big names like Smashing Pumpkins and Run The Jewels, whom as much as we love 'em—aren't really wanting for such attention. Instead, Obsidian Eagle is determined to go full indie by reviewing a recent EP from fellow 'chordist' and recording artist, Drew Haze. OE thinks you’ll find as he has that this demo disc deserves some serious consideration.

Bunker Rock Reviews: RTJ4
Release Date: June 3rd 2020 Today we look back at one of 2020's best hip-hop albums, which speaks truth to power while at the same time remaining highly entertaining. I'm referring of course to the fourth studio album by Run The Jewels: RTJ4. In fact I'll go so far as to nominate it Bunker Rock Album of the Year and plenty of reasons for that will be given below. But first I just want to say that anyone who thinks that hip-hop or rap and rock are somehow mutually exclusive, is clearly unfamiliar with the likes of Run DMC collaborating with Aerosmith, En Vogue's Free Your Mind, or early Linkin Park. Now, barring further fuss, I'm about to start swinging!

Bunker Rock Reviews: Smashing Pumpkins CYR
Release Date: November 27th 2020 Today Obsidian Eagle will do a very special review of the newest album by Smashing Pumpkins. I say special because unlike 'professional' reviewers, this amateur is a longtime fan of the band. From the moment the music video for Rocket debuted on MTV back in 1993, Yours Truly has been a loyal 'pumpkin head' who has seen the band perform live many times. OE has stuck with SP through thick and thin and can clearly recall its side projects such as Zwan and the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. That being said, it doesn't mean I'm going to pull any punches here either. Anyhow, let's begin breaking it down...
