Ever thought about starting your own bar and restaurant? Ever think about what it takes to do so? Ever wonder what it takes to open the doors to a bar and restaurant each day? Well in the coming weeks and months, I’m going to share with you what I have learned over these past 4 years about just this topic. Before opening up Northern Barrell, Michelle and I would hop in the car and travel around checking out local establishments as we love craft beer and good pub food. We call it “research” and it was what we enjoyed doing as often as possible. Now that we own and operate Northern Barrell, our “research” is limited to Tuesdays….because that’s the only day we are closed! We get to see what other establishments are doing with regards to their food options, drink options and the vibe the restaurant has to offer. While we know what we like and enjoy, it is fun to see new ideas that maybe we had never considered for Northern Barrell. In fact, this is how we decided to implement our current “buy a Vet a Beer” program. We were at a brewery up North and we saw that they had this program and we thought it was a fantastic idea to bring to Northern Barrell. ( and yes we did buy a Vet a beer and hope you will too when you stop into NB) It has been a great success and we are proud that we can offer this option to our men and woman of our armed forces and we thank all of our patrons who have purchased a beer for them.
