Longing
Greek mythology mentions the fates that whisper to your conscience from the very back of our minds. They are the voices of the psychological trials and tribulations that humans walk every day of their lives, from happiness to grief and from love to love lost. I'm sure I heard them one day, and as legend foretold, their voices are powerful.

Catharsis
“What do you want to keep drawing for?” my father would bark in his gruff and slightly nasal voice, “Real men don't draw. We're going to get you into Football, or Basketball. If you don't want to play sports, we're gonna get you into something physically active. When I was your age, I would….” He would continue. I would usually zone out at this point, staring at him with this vague disinterest that stoked the flames of his emasculating rage. To him, boys should only be drawn to sports, cars, and women. My artistic interests flew in the face of everything he stood for, and it soon became my escape in those formative years. Those words he barked at me are still knocking around inside my head, and they come to me at the worst times.

Beneath Calm Waters
It came from under the lake—the unspeakable, writhing mass of black scales and revenge. My people had stories about them, but I could scarcely believe they were real, the serpents of Mother Nature. In the stories, they were the heralds of change, but now, they are the bringers of death. The lake surged around the undulating being, the water receding from the shoreline as it continued its ascent from below. I couldn't believe what I was seeing—neither could Isaac, my significant other, who stood spellbound beside me.
