Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Mary was a lone passenger on an escape pod. Her only companion was an artificial intelligence called Alisson. Mary was crying as she had just watched her husband and son parish on the ship she had barely escaped from. It was one of the ships that were deployed from Earth a long time ago in an attempt to preserve the human race. Mary was a third-generation descendant of one of the original passengers. The ship was destroyed by a rogue asteroid. Mary gazed out of the single window of the escape pod and screamed.

The Cabin
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The flame flickered dimly in the dark as if calling out for help. The darkness all around was so dense that the little light stood out like a beacon.

Strawberry Girl
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved strawberries. All of her clothes were covered in drawings of them. She would blend them into smoothies, make them into jam, or just eat them in their natural, perfect form. “Here comes the strawberry girl,” the old woman living in the house over would say. “Why do you wear those clothes? Do you ever eat anything else?” she would ask. Strawberry Girl just continued living her life, unbothered.

Little Black Book
Sean was always alone. He lived in an apartment complex where most of the residents were elderly. He was twenty-five and was afraid to go outside. The only time he went out was to go to work at the coffee show where he was the barista. No one he worked with tried talking with him anymore as they had learned he isn't one for human interaction. He would clock out and drive home, not stopping until he reached his destination. Sometimes he would see Mrs. Tina, an elderly woman who lived in his building, in the hallway. She is the only one he spared any words for.
