Amorally Mortal Mind
Topic: MORALITY By: Nicholas V. Amorally Mortal Mind On the night of April 20, 1841 fourteen men and two woman were sacrificed for the survival of others on a long boat that was flooding with water due to occupancy weight. At first, the people on board were trying to pale some water out of the long boat to mediate the time they had before the boat could give in and possibly sink. The man who was put in charge by the captain, Holmes, made a decision to stop the paling of water as it didn’t seem to be of an effect in the long run. Eventually the boat plug came out and the weight was too much causing the boat to begin sinking. Holmes then decided that he order his men to throw people overboard for the sake of saving more lives then lost. His orders were to not separate married couples and no woman were to be thrown overboard either, there were no children on board. Many men pleaded for there lives but Holmes would not allow them to remain on board. One man, by the name of Frank Askin, offered Holmes money to spare his life. Holmes replied that he did not want his money and tossed him overboard as well. The two woman that gave their own lives were Frank’s sisters whom chose not to live after their brother had died, and so threw themselves overboard. Another man named Charles Conlin just asked for 5 minutes to say his prayers before being thrown. The first to go, of these men, was Riley, who was asked to stand up by Holmes and then thrown off. This decision was based solely on one man, Holmes, who held no remorse for those lives sacrificed at the time of it occurring. There was no vote held for the passengers.

Compromising Conflict
Compromising Conflict Legalism & Confucianism China has encountered many obstacles throughout history in regards to it’s varying governmental and political systems. In the time of the Warring States both religious and philosophical ideals were developed as a result of a very conflicting time. Though conflict was the primary result, the intentional cause was to bring about harmony throughout all of China. Eventually, harmony will be established. However, this took some time and effort. Authoritarianism relates to the sense of freedom being held as a subordinate to a power of authority, more typically established under governmental and political systems (Xu 159). It’s important to understand the idea of an authoritarian society in order to compare and contrast the many forms of governmental and political systems or philosophical doctrines and practices that have emphasized the development of Chinese culture and society. The very same culture, or cultures, that have survived history until today, in these modern times, along with an authoritarian nature, or way of life, comes with the understanding of terms such as hierarchy, aristocracy, and veneration. These methods of teaching carry on in the many political and governmental forms that the Chinese culture, and its people, have embodied as both a form of morale and character. An embodiment resulting from what I like to call a “harmonious conflict”. Kind of an oxymoron when taken at face value. Yet, where else would the beauty of a civilized nation be formed than from a great conflict that molded into its concrete ways and acceptable forms. Conflict is, in a sense, one of natures finest, and most useful, tools used for harmonious precision. Without it, China may have never had the urge, motivation, or drive to bring about ideals, nesting in the minds of eager philosophers and leaders, such as those that promote change which directly resembles the likes of equality, peace, justice, benevolence, and even loyalty in families and nations.

CREATIVITY
Fine Arts for Higher Education Creativity in my daily life is important. I discover infinite possibilities to understanding the data I perceive and better utilize the information in more ways then one. This is important to me because without creativity, I wouldn’t know to question the data. I would be comfortable and confident in what I learned from perception alone. I believe art, music, and dance should be among the required subjects to take in higher education. As realized at a young age that there is so much more to me then systematic operation, clockwork, and flawless computing. I’ve used my creativity in many ways in all these situations and have had results that held me at a confident acceptance. Where exactly is the existence of flawlessness if not in the thick of concrete decision making? My choices are lead by naïve intentions that pursue the greatest happiness, pleasure, or ultimate gain as the only acceptable route. Therefore, choices are a gamble and unexplored and all too much are they held accountable for their actions. Can’t imagine that without creativity. Our failures and “bad” decisions alone would be rock solid evidence.
