Prop Hunt
“Liz. You and Gerard take the back entrance. New kid, you’re with me on the front door. On my count…3...2...1…GO” The fireteam split in two, Albert watched his two friends make their way around the large Victorian English building, their blackened tack vests making them look like ghostly shadows in the night. He griped his assault rifle tighter as he slowly approached the door with his Commanding officer. With a series of hand gestures that silently communicated what he wanted him to do, Albert slowly opened the door. Their leader, a 47-year-old veteran hunter named Luke, was the first to enter, followed swiftly by Albert. This was Alberts first official hunt. First time seeing a Mimic alive in person since his parents were killed by one several years ago. He was a kid back then and couldn’t do anything to save them, but a secret society called the Dark Beast Hunters had rescued him that night. The top-secret, ancient order had existed for thousands of years hidden to the rest of the world as their sworn duty was to protect it from creature of dark and sinister origins. They had trained the now 17-year-old teenager, at his request, so that he could exact his revenge.

Touring the Blue World
The emotionless seas were relatively calm despite the light winds, the navy waves not too big or choppy for the dinky little boat and its handful of crew. One by one the divers entered the cool water, each of them fully equipped and ready to go deep. Every time a diver enters, an eruption of white water splotches the surface of the vast blue expanse like a mini volcano eruption, before disappearing in a cloud of bubbles. On the surface, one would describe the Blue World as an azure desert, no signs of anything but a few seagulls squawking their repetitive call as they hovered in the air. The same could not be said about the reef below. As the divers submerged themselves, they are teleported into a world of living color. Massive coral spires of all shapes, sizes, and color dot the seascape as fish of equal variation dart in and out and all around. The few small gaps of real estate between the coral were quickly and thoroughly covered in all manner of sea grass and sea ferns. This is the Blue World most people are familiar with in the picture books and documentaries. Luckily these waters remain unaffected by encroaching disasters that have befallen the surrounding reefs. That luck will soon run out though, as it does not take the divers long to reach the edge of what some locals call the boarder of death. True to its description, the bleached coral’s white hue is a stark contrast to the vibrantly colored, healthy, living coral. It is almost as if the reef is haunted by its dead relatives, surrounded by their pale ghosts and white unliving corpses.

Skimmerhorn Valley
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. A group of cowboys had stopped on a boarder of an unknown forest and were starting to make camp there, despite the local natives’ warnings about this particular route. The ranchers were in a hurry to get back to their homes on the other side of the mountains however, so when they came to the split in the valley path that would lead them south, they voted to go north along the forest edge to save them a day’s ride instead. The seven men came across the small 500 square foot two story cabin just as it was about to get dark and decided it would be a nice change of pace to sleep inside on the wood floors and loft. A couple of hours before sundown, one of the men heads out to gather some firewood.

Cravings
The area around my wound itches like crazy today. I still don’t understand why Tom went crazy at the club the other night and bit me. Would have torn my whole arm off if the bouncers hadn’t pulled him off and threw him out. Joe and I tried to find him some time later but he must have walked home because he was nowhere to be found.
