Tag, You're It
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Then another, and then another. Soon, the cabin housed enough light that any passing stranger could peer inside, past rotten planks of wood barely clinging to the window frames, and see the details of every cob-web covered piece of furniture that was left.

Ayah Kami
I don’t think our dad actually planned for any of this. When he came to the United States almost forty years ago searching for an education that would provide him with a better life, he had no way of knowing he would meet a young, White woman in college and proceed to have two kids with her. He couldn’t have known that he would successfully earn a PhD, work jobs where he was unpaid or severely underpaid due to his immigration status to support his new family, and come to accept that his two children would not follow the path he had hoped they would.

Flying Endurance

The Valley used to be an isolated area, with lush, blooming vegetation during the Sol Moiet – when the sun rose high and graced the Valley with growth – surrounding the deep caves within the mountains that provided protection during the Gelid Moiet – when the sky showered the ground with waves of white rain. Two large mountains, the istral and the extral, cut through the middle by the wide river Xeytis, were home to my people and the Village the gods birthed for us millenia ago.

The Beginnings of a Hoax
The crack in the pond, frozen over from the lowering temperatures the night before, unsettles everyone. It is almost the full diameter of the pond long, shy only a few inches from the edges, ebbing out from a hole in the center like a spiderweb, catching the fleeting attention of passer-bys.

Smoke, Not Blood
Rohan Bambar let out a shaky breath, drawing the collar of his jacket tighter around his neck before stuffing his hands in his pockets, clenching them in anticipation. He had been leaning against this rickety house for an hour now, watching people of all shapes and sizes enter and leave the small door frame.
