The Sakura Tree
They decided to sing Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. That way, Grandpa Tom, whom I’d never met before today, could sing too. He was once in a barbershop quartet; she told Grandpa Tom they’d follow his lead, Natalie on fiddle and Melissa echoing his deep, base-like voice with a crystal-clear high-tune.

Adrift
I am dying. I know that I am dying, but I’m not entirely sure how, for I have no eyes, and no ears. I don’t fear death, for it will come for me eventually. Every day that I do not die brings the possibility of death tomorrow. Within my system, there is no brain with which to process fear; I am lucky to have a mouth with which to speak.

Strength Bespoken
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. They came in streaks, like paint being thrown wildly by an eccentric painter, and vanished moments after. As ripples would appear and disperse in a pond, that’s what they reminded Brance of.
