There weren't always dragons in the Valley. From atop the driver's seat of a sorcery-propelled wagon, Cole "Silverhand" Thompson stole a glance at the sky -- where a dozen black-winged, serpentine dragons twisted and dove in the crisp, winter air over what had once been the San Fernando valley and greater Los Angeles.
