What is Cryptocurrency? Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency, and arguably its most endearing allure, is its organic nature; it is neither issued by any government nor is it bound to any particular sector or industry. The first cryptocurrency to be created was Bitcoin back in 2009, and it has become the most prominent example of this growing trend.
