I am 36 years old, an Army veteran, and officially divorced. I have been writing since i was young and have always been told that I have a knack for it. I've tried my writing a few novels, but my heart lies within poetry and journalism.

A New Age: The Snyderverse
Let me begin this article by saying this not a spoiler. I am not going to break down the specific scenes from the movie that were epic, but I might reference a few. There will be some comparison to the first cut of the film because I think it is worth noting where Snyder's cut smashed the first film into oblivion. My goal is to show that this cut of the film has set a new standard for the true fans that want to see what we saw on Saturday mornings as children portrayed to the same level of excitement.

'Humans'
I am a little late to this party of a show as I was skeptical that the overall portrayal of AI and robotics is an overly saturated ideal in the cinematic universe. It is with great regret and apology that I did not sink my teeth into this show from its' inception. The telling of this story was nothing short of masterful. Of course, there are the undertones of "Terminator" elements within the story: man creates machines and machines in turn destroy all of humanity in a hope to save themselves but this is far from the heart of the show itself.

'In Time' (2011)
Set in a purposefully vague time in the future, the value of money no longer exists. Instead, TIME is now the currency in which all value is now measured. Quite literally, the only way to live your life, is to pay with your life; or at least portions of it. The film never really goes deeply into the science about how or why the transfer was made from fiat currency to time currency, but the systems of control that unfold are evident in what I consider to be the greatest adaptation of the caste system in modern fiction. When you are born, you have a glowing timer on your left arm, and you are gifted with one full year of time. The timer begins to countdown on the day your turn 25 years old, however, once that timer starts you cease to age another day. The way you look and feel when you are 25 is how you will look and feel for the rest of your life, so long as, you have time remaining on your clock.

You Are Enough
I am continuously inspired by others' selfish motives, to seek that which makes me content within my own self. However, the older that I become and the more that I learn from the lessons that I am meant to learn, I am beginning to see that there are those of us that are truly meant to be alone. This is not a thing to be looked upon negatively. I find myself thinking that I am one of the lucky few. I am becoming more aware of myself, and I am relying on others for emotional, mental, and spiritual affirmation, or stability, less and less every day.

Crumbling Walls
I have come across a recurring theme in cinema and music over the past few years that has really changed the way that I view authoritarian systems. The most recent viewing that drew this thought process from the back of my skull is the anime adaptation of the manga 'Attack on Titan'.

Eye of the Storm
Everyday that we wake up we face ourselves, and it is in that facing that we make a choice. The choice is either to rise defiant of the mortal desire to fade away, or to allow the flesh to drag us down into the comfortable mire of self-loathing. Whichever you choose is of course up to you; but the choice will only temporarily affect you today, but will affect you eternally, tomorrow.

The Expanse V3 'Abadonn's Gate' (2013)
The conclusion of the events on Ganymede station has left the solar system in a sort of stalemate. Jules-Pierre Mao has been convicted of his attempts to weaponize and unleash the protomolecule, which consequentially allowed for a pseudo-peace to grow between the three major factions: Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Among all of the great things surrounding the human race pulling together, there has been one eerie focus, the ring.

'Can You Keep A Secret?' (2019)
As the new year is becoming a thing of the past. I was searching for the inspiration for my first article for this new decade. I found that inspiration through 'Can You Keep A Secret?', and the surprisingly moving performance by Alexandra Daddario (Emma Corrigan).

'You Were Never Really Here' (2017)
I was not prepared for this one. Reading the breif synopsis on Amazon intrigued me, but, my god, was it inadequate. Joe (Joaquin Phoenix), plays a combat veteran that now lives a life as a hired gunman. His missions are to find missing girls that are being used as a means to satisfy the desires of sexual deviants. While he is not on an assignment, Joe stays at home tending to his elderly mother (Judith Roberts), who is fading from this world both mentally and physically.
