"Attributing 6 Characteristics to Neanderthals: Exploring Their Influence from Negative Habits to Sleep Patterns"
Scientific exploration into human evolution has revealed a fascinating connection between modern humans and Neanderthals, manifested in the form of Neanderthal DNA present in many individuals. While people with European or Asian backgrounds carry 1% to 2%, those from East Asia may have as much as 4% Neanderthal DNA, a result of interbreeding between the two species. However, due to Neanderthals likely evolving outside of Africa, some African populations possess minimal to no Neanderthal DNA. This genetic legacy, although constituting a small percentage of the modern human genome, has been associated with various physical traits and behaviors. A genetic engineer, Sebnem Unluisler from the London Regenerative Institute, is now shedding light on six such characteristics linked to Neanderthal DNA, offering insights into our ancestral heritage nearly 40,000 years after Neanderthals went extinct.
