Unconventional NaNoWriMo week 1
Overall, it's been a great week, but very tiring. In this post, I'll show you my diary of work during week 1. In total, I worked on my writing goals for 19.25 hours (87.5% of my goal of 22 hours--not bad!). I successfully published my entry in the Unreliable Narrator challenge and made progress on other goals related to my writing business. Keep reading for the details :).

Parker Pyne, Science Writing, & Paddington
As I had planned, this month I read Parker Pyne Investigates (in the Masterpieces in Miniature collection) and finally finished The Best American Science Writing 2004. This has given me a good opportunity to talk about my thoughts on short story collections, nonfiction, and anthologies.

The first piece I ever wrote AND PUBLISHED
Surprise, it’s a scientific paper in the field of astrobiology! Yes, I have a previous life as a professional planetary scientist. Starting during a summer research internship in 2015, I wrote and eventually published my first first-author paper, entitled ALMA Detection and Astrobiological Potential of Vinyl Cyanide on Titan.
