What are the benefits from steaming compared to ironing? Preserving the life of your clothes: In this age of sustainability steaming clothes has a big tick. The steaming process loosens the fabric structure and in doing so removes creases. Ironing however takes a more aggressive approach, compressing the fibres with steam, weight and heat. This compression slowly breaks the natural fibre structures and over time leads to holes and tears appearing.
