Boston's 'Straight Pride' Has Arrived
Despite actor Brad Pitt threatening to sue the organizers, backlash, and controversy, Boston's so-called "Straight Pride" took place Saturday. I wrote an article a month ago condemning this event and even wrote an open letter to straight people, well, most who felt like they needed an event to celebrate their sexuality. To read that article and my open letter to straight people, you can click the link below:

Power Rangers Day 2019: In Their Own Words
It's Morphin Time! You can't go anywhere without hearing that Morphing Chant. 26 years ago today, a live-action series called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was born. It premiered on Fox Kids on August 28, 1993, which ran for three seasons, and was one of the longest-running kids' live-action series in television history. Over 900 episodes and 26 seasons later, the franchise is still going strong and has no signs of slowing down anytime soon. So you must be wondering if this day was real and how it was a national day to begin with. The answer to your first question is yes, and I'll share with you how Power Rangers Day came to light. According to the National Day Calendar, the toy company Hasbro established it in 2018, to help celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. If it weren't for Haim Saban, the person responsible for creating Power Rangers, it wouldn't exist today. Power Rangers taught us about teamwork, inclusivity, and diversity to people of all age groups. This tradition is still alive and well today.

Perler Bead DIY: Extra Lives from 'Contra'. Top Story - August 2019.
"Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start:" the Konami Code that many of us recognize by heart. Contra was an NES game that I loved to play as a kid, and still do as an adult. In this article, I'm going to walk everyone through how to make extra lives from this run-and-gun game. Two months ago, I wrote a DIY article about teaching everyone how to make a block from Super Mario Bros. 3. It was the first time in almost 20 years that I've done any perler bead art. To me, doing this hobby is not only therapeutic, but exciting. You can check out that article here.

Genesis Does What Nintendon't: Sega Genesis at 30
30 years ago today, a 16-bit home video game console was introduced to the masses. That gaming system was the Sega Genesis and it released over 900 games. To date, it had sold almost 31 million units and its best selling game was Sonic the Hedgehog, which sold 15 million units. I'll be sharing some of my favorite Sega Genesis games that I loved playing as a kid, in no particular order. In about a month, the Sega Genesis Mini is set to be released and will include 42 pre-installed games. It will go on sale for $79.99 and if you would like to see the full list of games, you can click the link down below. I've written an article about it two months ago, so be sure to check it out. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy my list of Sega Genesis games.

5 Interesting Facts About Mister Rogers
Fred Rogers has made a positive impact to millions of people worldwide. His show, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968-2001), talked about a wide range of issues, interacting with friends, songs, and taking viewers on tours of factories. Growing up, I would watch him on TV whenever I had a day off from school. After his death from stomach cancer in February 2003, Rogers has influenced many people like myself and a decisive role model. During his lifetime, he has received over 40 honorary degrees and several awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002, and a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 1997. On top of that, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1999.

3 'Power Rangers' Stars That I Would Like to Meet
Greetings, my nerdy fam. I had an outstanding time at GlitchCon last weekend and thanks to everyone for the congratulatory posts regarding my first cosplay contest win. It meant a lot and I'm grateful for those who have supported me and been by my side. If you want to know all that happened on the second day of the con, you can read my article about it in the link provided here.

My First Cosplay Contest Win
Last weekend, I attended GlitchCon, which is a convention in Springdale, Arkansas and it's held once a year. It was actually my sixth year in a row going there and I have so much to share with everyone. Now before I talk about the cosplay contest, I want to talk about the cosplay that I debuted at the con. The cosplay mashup I did on the second day was called Lord Gyaradrakkon (pictured above). It was a mashup of Gyarados from Pokemon and Lord Drakkon, the main antagonist from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Shattered Grid comic book series. One of my good friends, Johnny, created the armor, shield, Dragon Dagger (which you'll see in this article), Morpher belt buckle, and the helmet. I wanted the helmet to mirror Gyarados and Lord Drakkon, so he did an amazing job creating it. If you can't tell, those are scales on the shield, gauntlets, and boot covers, adding nice touches to them. Finally, there's a Power Coin in the middle of the shield, which has the likeness of Gyarados. Many people loved my cosplay and they took pictures of me and some with them. Not only that, but I had a solo photoshoot and a group photoshoot with around 15-20 cosplayers. There was a guy that came up to me, who has been following my posts, shared how much I've grown over the last five years, and wanted to meet me in person. He's never met me before, until that day.

Misconceptions That People Make, Say, and Do About Cosplayers
Cosplay: it has high and lows. It’s advantages and disadvantages. However, many people assume the worst about cosplayers, like myself, whether it’s at a con or in public. I asked everyone on my Facebook page what misconceptions people have made about them, while in cosplay and I’ve received two responses. Here are a couple of them:

Cosplayer Spotlight: Christina Barber
Before I attend GlitchCon later on this week, I decided to do one more cosplayer feature. Not to worry, because I'll be doing more of them after the con, so stay tuned. In case you missed my last cosplayer interview, you can check it out by going to the link at the end of this article. In the meantime, I recently got a chance to interview Christina Barber. Before I go any further, if you like any of the articles I've written so far, please feel free free to send me a a one-off tip, which is located at the end of every article. No tip is ever too big or small. It helps me and other Vocal content creators create better stories, and you'll be supporting us in a positive way. On that note, I hope you enjoy this interview.

'Straight Pride' Is A Complete Joke
For the last several weeks, I've been running into articles about two different cities planning on hosting their so-called "Straight Pride". Those two cities are Boston, Massachusetts and the other that might hold one is Modesto, California. One of my cosplayer friends and I had a great conversation on this topic. We both agreed that these cities are doing this for attention. To me, I'm not outraged or upset at these two cities. They're free to have it, but I'm still going to side-eye it. Many people, including me, some of my friends, and LGBTQ allies, started dragging them online, as they should. As soon as I've seen that Modesto, California might have a "Straight Pride" event, I felt like I needed to write an open letter to some, not all, straight people. I'm in no way attacking you or your beliefs, but to go into detail of why "Straight Pride" is complete nonsense and ridiculous. I have many straight friends and family members, but you know what, I love them for who they are.

Cosplayer Spotlight: Isaiah Gieck
One of my favorite things about being a cosplayer is meeting people and forming friendships in the process. Not only that, but showing off my cosplays and enjoying myself at cons. I'm currently preparing for a con that's happening in my area in approximately a week. Also, I'll be attending Arkansas Comic Con for the first time in September. I'll be doing a review of that con on Vocal soon. If you haven't seen my last cosplayer interview, you can read it in the link at the end of this article. In the meantime, I'm back with another cosplayer interview. Recently, I had a chance to interview Isaiah Gieck, via Facebook, and got to know more about him. So sit back and enjoy my interview with him.

Cosplayer Spotlight: Joshua Meeks
It has been a month since I've done a cosplayer interview, but now, I'm back to do some more before I attend GlitchCon in almost a week. If you haven't checked out my last cosplayer interview, you can click on the link below. I recently got a chance to interview Joshua Meeks, via my cosplay page on Facebook. The reason why I interview cosplayers is because I want my followers and everyone on Vocal to get to know more about them. Other than that, I hope you enjoy my interview with Joshua.
