Kayaking the Tittabawassee
Arriving at the van, Carl unlocks the doors. Everyone grabs their bags to switch out shoes. After switching to their water shoes the gang walks over to the river access where the kayak rentals are at the entrance. They check in and hurry down the ramp to their kayaks. Craig, who is a bald, athletic, tanned guy with baby blue eyes, is at the EZ launch putting in kayaks and assisting everyone to get on the water.

Let's Investigate
The next morning at the station, Detective Williams sits at his black marble desk in the corner office with his Microsoft Surface Pro 7 connected to two 24-inch monitors. On one side he has his email and on the other he has the notes from the red hoodie case. In the background he has music playing over the speakers. The aquarium is bubbling while the brightly colored fresh water fish and sharks swim around with the Orange Dwarf Crayfish walking along the bottom.

Celebration Dinner
Eddie holds the red door open for Kat, Carl, Anna, Johann, Vicki, and AJ as they all go into the entry of the banquet hall for the Rooster Hills Half Marathon post race celebration dinner. There are white linens on 8 foot round tables with blue napkins folded into stars at each place setting. Twelve inch tall, thin red vases are in the middle of every table. Each vase holds red, white and blue star balloons mounted on tall, gold rods.

The Race
The sun is peeking above the horizon. The portable spotlights are lit along the corrals and the start/finish line. Cars are filing into the parking lot. People are slowly making their way across the grass that is wet from the morning dew to the pre-race tents where there are tables of bananas, granola bars, orange juice and water. Brady the DJ is spinning the 80s tunes in the background.

Self Care is Required Me Care
The day is crazy. The first part of the morning starts out with a group of friends that get together online each morning. This is a friendly half hour or so chat with one or more on Facebook Live and the rest are chatting in the comments. Everyone is encouraged to come in as they are and stay as long as they can. This is a private group, so it’s comfortable for everyone to share without restraint.

Afternoon Picnic
A red and white checkered blanket is laid out on the ground under the 10-foot tall oak tree. On one corner is a wooden picnic basket that is light tan and rectangular with the lid up and the handles down. Inside of it is lined with red and white check. There is a set of silver plasticware with purple square plastic plates and cups sitting on the left side inside the basket. On the right are the takeout containers of food: rotisserie chicken, corn, baby carrots, and seasoned potato wedges. Next to the basket is a royal blue cooler with bottles of hard cider, water and black cherry cream soda inside.

What?! Yep, we always put a vacation around our business trips. This business trip took us to St. Louis, Missouri. We had a convention that was Friday evening and all day Saturday that ended with a gala and dance.

Let's Walk This Way
It all began in 2002, when I was sitting on the couch watching my young boys, one was not quite a year old and the other was seven. I had that feeling of being too fat and sluggish. How was I going to keep up with these boys? On the television came a local commercial for a run/walk training program. I thought to myself, hey, I can do that. I used to run cross country back in high school. With that I dialed up the number on the screen and signed myself up for the training program.
