Love you, your brother Jack.
January 21, 2059 Dear Jazz, I miss you so much, especially today. Happy 17TH birthday! I can't believe it's been 4 years since I last saw you. How tall are you now? Do you look like mom or dad? Did one of the aunt's make you a cake? If not, I promise I'll make you one when I get back. I'm on my way to another scouting mission. This time we'll be in the Northeast Coastal Region of our territory. I remember dad telling us stories of his childhood in that area and how he and ma meet at the "Mall." Whatever that is. Anyway, it'll be nice to see the ocean finally; he always talked about it, it'll be like seeing them again. I wish I had a camera to take pictures to show you, but I'll draw you one instead. This is the 27th mission I've been on in the three months since I last wrote. I'm sorry my letters have been so infrequent. It's hard to find clean stationery, let alone stamps. The Postman only comes around every few months or so, leading to very lonely months without any news from home. But rereading your anecdotes about everyone back home on the settlement always makes me feel better on my darkest days. BTW, how's the victory garden going? Have you harvested anything yet? Are the chickens still alive? Well, I have to say goodbye, for now. My squadron is about to move out. I hope all is well, give the aunts my love and I'll write to you as soon as I can.

The Beautiful One Has Come
My journey as a writer so far has been one riddled with mistakes. This video alone, I've submitted 4 times. Each time for a different reason. First, my text wasn't long enough. Then I didn't embed the video. Next, I changed the length. Lastly, I added music and actually edited the text. With each new submission came the same realization. I have no idea what I'm doing. That was even a title to one of my posts, "I Have No Idea What I'm Doing." But you know what? I'm learning things about myself that I never knew and learning new skill sets that I held no interest in in the past.

Did You Miss Me?
"Now, who can tell me what the name of this flower is and its medicinal uses?" Neffi asks, holding up a Coneflower. A plant native to her homeland of North America but one foreign to Kemet. She brought various varieties of seeds with her five years ago when she came to this land as a newlywed. Now many of those species are thriving and being used medicinally in this country.

After All This Time
"Your Merlot, ma'am," The middle-aged waitress says as she coldly places Josephine's drink on the table. "Thank you," Josephine says with a fake smile. "This just wasn't her night," she thought as she sat at the vast bridal table by herself while her family was out on the dance floor celebrating her youngest brother's wedding. It was bad enough that out of the 4 of her siblings, she (the only girl) was now the only one not married, dateless, thanks to her date's flight being canceled, and to top the night off, she tripped on a rug, just as the bridal party was coming down the reception line. Bruising her ankle and damning her to a night of sympathetic head nods and silly questions like "awe, are you ok?" or "Does it hurt?" from her merry-making family and friends.
