I splashed some water on my face as I looked at myself in the mirror, leaning against the sink. I was still dizzy, still feeling stupid. Shit, I shouldn't have gotten out of bed at all after last night... Now Leena's going to keep that bullshit going on, helping some stranger on the street out of pure kindness? Yeah, right, I'm not that kind of idiot.

There he goes, his sixth cigarette of the afternoon. It's not like when he's on a "power trip" (like last night), but even so, I know some kind of nonsense is about to start, and I'm going to have to play my part, too. It's a routine, it's destructive, and it's damn addictive.
