Fun Ways To Develop Your Characters
In any story, your characters are going to be the most quintessential element. They are the drivers of the plot, the mouthpiece for the messages you want to relay to your audience, and the very heart of the story itself. A great character, in my experience, can sometimes be the saving grace of a struggling story, and a boring cast can make even the most interesting of plots dull. I believe every character has the ability to be full of life, to stand on their own and make an impact. And one of the best ways to help bring that full potential out is to learn as much as you can about the character you wish to write and get a solid grasp of understanding on who they are.

The Storyteller
There was a single sentence that my Grandpa would hear from me every single day when I was a little girl, standing in front of his chair with a photo album in my tiny little hands and looking up at him with wonder-filled eyes; "Grandpa, will you tell me the stories about the pictures?"

Batman and I
My earliest memories consist of weekly trips into town. My Mom and Grandma would tote my little toddler self to the grocery store, set me in the cart, stop by the bakery inside where I'd get a free snack because the ladies that worked there seemed to adore me, and we'd go to the magazine rack where I'd pick up whatever issue they'd have of Batman out on display, reading it the entire time I was in the store, then going home and reading it again and again and again, along with the rest of my little collection.

Finding Love in a Found Family
Family was always a difficult topic for me growing up. I grew up in the south, and there was always this staunch traditionalist mindset about family; you love them, you support them no matter what, and you stick together, and nothing is more important than your blood relatives. I always loved the idea of it, to have people who love you endlessly and stay at your side through thick and thin.

I Went Back To The Sims 3 and Won't Go Back To Sims 4
In roughly about the spring or early summer of 2007, I booted up a copy of the Sims 2 for the first time. I had an aunt who had actively played the first game and its expansions, and had gotten excited to show me the next installment, sitting me in front of the computer to play it and see the lives and subsequent drama all sims could go through. I, the ever probably overly creative kid that I was, who loved storytelling from an early age, was instantly hooked.

The Things You Left Behind. Top Story - May 2021.
My boyfriend and I talk a lot about healing and growing as people. I share with him the deepest parts of myself, my soul, my thoughts, and my journey on trying to heal from the pain of the last few years. This week marked a big first in the last three years of my life, and I got to share with him that I, for the first time in a long time around this particular day, I was okay. The first Mother's Day I didn't break down crying at the thought of you. This is the first year where I wasn't sitting in dread over things like the day I lost you, or your birthday, or now, Mother's Day. I managed to smile and laugh, wishing Grandma and his Mom a happy one, and then I moved on. The thoughts don't leave, the absence never fully goes away, but for the first time since you left, it isn't tearing away at my being.
