The Royal Family is Obsolete
The royal family is obsolete. There. I said it. And this is coming from a die-hard Anglophile. In my humble opinion, the British monarchy is a romanticized relic that no longer holds relevance in our modern world. Its lingering presence is an offence to those who suffered cultural monopolization at the hands of British colonizers. Simply put, the British monarchy is an outdated institution that should have been dismantled ages ago.

A Spiritual Awakening
I'm a completely different person from who who I was 5 years ago. And that’s not only because your skin cells renew themselves about every 48 days. To give you a better picture [and because I love a good analogy], it feels like my mind started out in Brazil and now I’ve somehow ended up in Siberia. My whole thought process has changed. My values have changed. My taste in deodorant has changed. I'm in the process of creating a new me. But... there’s a bit of an issue with all of this change and personal growth. What happens to all the people you’ve met and become friends with in the past who no longer share your ideals?

I Do, Therefore I Am
Somewhere in an exploited developing country a sweatshop worker squints and expertly dodges their fingers as they sew a name brand logo onto a shirt. A college student sits down for a 3 hour study session after coming from yoga and working a cover shift for a co-worker at Starbucks. An office worker burns the midnight oil and stays an extra 2 hours after the boss has long gone home to stay on top of upcoming deadlines. What do all three of these scenarios have in common? They’re all falling gracefully into the roll of being good productive members of society. And while I understand that in some cases this is a necessity, there are too many cases where people willingly choose this lifestyle of overexertion; wearing their exhaustion as a badge of honour. We’ve built our great nation on the backs of people like these. Millionaires have become billionaires all thanks to their drive to achieve and placate authority figures.

The Year That Recess Died. Top Story - July 2022.
Recess. Arguably the best part about school growing up as a kid. Nothing felt better than throwing off the shackles of the classroom and bolting outside towards freedom, your friends in tow. Wind, snow, or humidity that made even your eye-balls sweat. It didn't matter what the heavens tossed our way. It was recess time, it was ours, and it was sacred.

Freedom Convoys are Changing the World
So, what exactly is the Freedom Convoy, you may ask? Well, for those who’ve been living under a rock or purposely avoiding the chaos that is the news these days and haven’t heard of the Freedom Convoys taking place right now, I’ll fill you in on the details you’ve missed. Essentially, the Freedom Convoys originated in Canada (that’s where I’m from) as a protest to government measures imposed on truckers. It goes without saying that the past two years have been a roller coaster but over the course of a few months the country has spiralled into a level of frenzy that has reached new heights. With mandates seeming to never end, goal-posts being constantly moved and thousands losing their livelihoods, a group of truckers finally said, ‘No more’. They rallied together and started a pilgrimage across Canada picking up supporters as they went. Their destination? Ottawa, of course; our capitol city. The trucker convoy was determined to make themselves heard, literally and figuratively.
