How to Start a YouTube Channel: 8 Important Tips & Tricks
Check the basics Before you even think about starting a new channel, make sure you’ve checked the basics and have all your ducks in a row. First, make sure you have a good internet connection for uploading video. Upload speed is also important, so check with your ISP to get an idea of your upload speeds. You also want to make sure you have the right software for recording video. There are a variety of options that will work for Mac or PC users, including open-source software. Once you’re certain that you have the technical basics down, it’s time to turn your attention to the more artistic side of things. You want your YouTube channel to have a consistent look and feel, so pay attention to how you’re framing your shots. Avoid too much movement, and make sure your videos are recorded in landscape format (not portrait, which will look squashed when they’re viewed). Also, make sure that you’re speaking directly into the camera, not off to one side or looking off into the distance. These basics will help make sure that your videos are as polished and professional as possible.
