Dear Mom, You left this world when I was two. I have met you through your children, your siblings, your parents. I have pieced together an idea of who you were through the memories of others. In this way I have learned that you were a caring mother, a hard working woman, and a kind soul.

To Be the Oldest Daughter
Obedient, Loving, Caring, Self-sacrificing, Quiet, Invisible. You speak when you are spoken to, you hide behind a mask you wear so well, you pretend to be happy even when you are not, you take on the burdens of the family, you never complain, you never ask for help, you make yourself small, you make yourself less of a problem, you please, you anticipate needs without being told, you ignore your own needs to meet everyone else's, you cry in the shower so the tears wash away, you scream in your car so no one else hears you, you ask yourself if life is even worth it anymore... you know you'd never do it, imagine what a mess you would leave behind for them to clean.

Itaewon Class
Itaewon class was a breath of fresh air when it comes to Kdramas. It became an instant favorite in the community, and it is easy to see why. This story was not new, by any means, by the way that it was delivered by a great cast in an amazing setting sets it apart from dramas before it. Not only that it touched on topics that are usually not spoken about in Kdramas, and I feel that this subtle social commentary through the story telling is a great leap forward. This drama touches on heavy topics such as racism, economic inequality, and trans-phobia. All of these topics on their own are a lot to tackle, but Itaewon class takes on all three topics in a tasteful way.

Netflix and Quarantine
2020. What a year, and yes I'm aware it's only March. As the situation continues to escalate I hope that everyone is keeping healthy and safe. As our nation calls for social distancing, it has come to my attention that my absurd amount of Netflix consumption may actually be useful at the moment. I know many of you go a little stir crazy at home, so I am here to recommend some prime Netflix-watchery for your viewing pleasure. Here are some of my personal favorite Netflix watches, and hopefully something here sparks your curiosity making your time at home a little less quarantine and a little more staycation.
