I got this for you! I said almost yelling! "I cannot accept it," she said as I slid the heart-shaped locket that had her name engraved across the counter. After what seemed like an eternity of back and forth, she took the locket and put it to the side of the counter with reluctance. I stood there feeling like a zombie. I felt like someone had pulled the wool from my eyes, I felt that I was the bud of all jokes. Could this be real? Could this be happening? The woman I had just declared my undying love to not only a few months ago was shattering my heart into tiny confetti-like pieces.
