It was a tempestuous evening Seattle, where the rain pounded the city with relentless fury. The streets were awash with water, and the wind howled through the downtown canyons, creating a cacophony of natural chaos. I was Emma, a single mother juggling a part-time job and the responsibilities of raising my eight-year-old son, Ben. That day had been especially challenging; my car had broken down, and with public transport being unreliable in such weather, I found myself stuck at a bus stop, drenched and anxious.
