Surviving the Hurricane
Rob, an anthropomorphic tiger and retired fisherman, concentrated on cleaning mashed fish from his father’s whiskers. He never seemed able to get all of it out no matter how hard he tried. His father didn’t seem to mind though. He passively sat, slouched in his chair, one side of his face drooping from a stroke last year. Giving up, Rob tossed the cloth into the sink and wheeled his father to sit in front of the television. He turned it on, hoping to get an update on the weather now that the hurricane had passed. As the generator roared to life he flipped through the channels finding nothing but static, “Here Pop, hold the ‘mote.”

Uncle to the New World
Everything went as predicted. The ice caps melted, Antarctica no longer had snow, permafrost thawed, and sea levels rose. Temperatures grew more extreme, as did the weather. The sixth extinction became an undisputable reality. Humanity clung on for a while with all their technology, but soon, they died too. So did their pets. Mostly.

Humans Only
“Sorry ma’am, I’m afraid your pet is going to have to wait in your ship,” An armoured security officer said as Sheila and Robert, an old anthropomorphic tiger, approached the gates to a human only compound. One that had a reputation for anthropocentric and specist ideals. The pair had been enlisted by a nearby community of anthropomorphs. Loved ones had been going missing, including a young deer named Waashkeshi. His parents had given Sheila a photo of him, a simple heart-shaped locket hanging around his neck.

Lumis
A couple days later the family squeezed into the cockpit of the Perentie. Veya had not slept last night; She was so excited to find out where she came from. She had tried to dig up information on Lumis with the ship's computer, but she did not find much more than a short description. Lumis is an Earth-like planet orbiting a yellow dwarf star inhabited primarily by humans. A list of details about the atmosphere, gravity, and other statistics followed. She tried to imagine what her family was like. Did they have red hair like her? Or maybe they had her eyes? And then there were the darker thoughts. Perhaps her family did not want her.

Boycott Green Washing. Third Place in Wave Makers Challenge.
“Oh, look at the cute little ducklings they are rescuing from oil spills. They really do care about the planet.” Have you ever had this thought while considering what dish soap to purchase? I hate to say it, but if you have, you are a victim of greenwashing. Greenwashing is how corporate entities make themselves look good at a glance, creating a positive public persona in order to sell more products. In this article, I am going to share a few companies to consider boycotting for the health of our oceans and our planet—and you, the consumer of those products.

...go to summer camp? 10. Summer Camp Island (2018 - Present) – Supernatural, Adventure Rated TV-Y7 Cute and wholesome. You can definitely watch this one with the kiddos unlike some of my other recommendations. Oscar and Hedgehog spend summer camp on Summer Camp Island where witches are the camp counsellors. Most food can talk, and the monsters are nerds.

Content Warning: This fiction contains details regarding sexual assault and abortion. Raven had never liked shaving her legs. Or any other part of her body for that matter. Today though, she found herself digging through her boxes of unused makeup and half-empty lotion bottles in search of the electric razor she had stashed away. She turned it on, listening to the electric hum for a moment before taking off her pants. As the fine hairs from her legs drifted to the floor her tears followed suit until Taffy, her large dog, bumped his snout under her arm.

Pacific Giant Salamanders
It was windy enough that Dominic could see multiple sailboats and ships on the horizon. He wrapped his arm around Alex’s waist watching the waters churn as the ferry sluggishly crept around the many islands between Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia. Alex pointed out a couple of bald eagles roosting on the nearest island, her pleasure evident behind her sunglasses.

The Full Spectrum: Sexuality, Gender & Relationships
I’m back on the dating apps and I’m getting the question, “What does polyamory mean?” Or, “Are you gay?” So, it seems there is still a need for articles such as this that break down the shades of sexuality, relationship structures, and gender. When we are young many of us were taught in binary terms. Black or white. Male or female. Straight or not. Binary is computer coding and cannot adequately explain the complexity of life.

Shrimp & Wine
The lake was shrimp shaped—not like a cooked prawn on a shrimp ring. Like a like live one turned on its side, the various rivers on the Northern end serving as its legs and long antennae. Mason and I had been completing benthic biomonitoring surveys at Shrimp Lake, Ontario all week. Today I was going at it alone, having texted Mason my exact coordinates before touching the water.
