We are now in week two of the long, oh so very long, summer holidays. Most parents are either tearing their hair out wondering how to entertain their little terrors (this only becomes a phenomenon in the holidays and weekends, they are perfectly normal human beings at school) or perfectly planning a strict timetable of activities to keep their little angels entertained.

How We Deal with Our Late Son's Birthday
On Monday, it’s my son Charlie’s ninth birthday. We’re having a party with friends round and their children, lots of party food, a cake and even some cards and presents. Nothing odd there? It sounds like any normal party for any normal nine year old. The difference is that Charlie died when he was three months old, in October 2010.

Life With a Chronic Illness Often Means a Life With FOMO
If you are anything like me, fast approaching 40, then keeping up with these latest acronyms is an ongoing battle to understand what my pre-teen is talking about! FOMO is ‘the fear of missing out’ if you were wondering. An old university friend had to explain this to me—I found it a particularly interesting one though, as it is very relevant to my life with a chronic illness. The fear of missing out is very real, and consumes my thoughts on a daily basis.
