This dance of dances, we call life. Some, not all, dance easily. Their life flowing outward with abandon.
Standing at the window, the old man looked out at the rain. His thoughts, echoed the weather, dark and turbulent. On the couch lay his old uniform, pressed and ready.
The borderlands hadn’t been crossed in centuries. At least that was what everyone believed. All that had tried, had never returned to prove it was possible.
The silence was deafening, there was nothing more to be said. His time with this company had ended. Dumbfounded, he rose, turned, and left. Closing the door behind him quietly.
“Today’s the day, I swear. I’m going to do more than just smile at at her.” Every day it’s the same thing, she gets on at Elm street, we smile at each other, and that’s it.

Brown humps on the hillside, the buffalo are laying down. Scattered about, they pass their days feeding and dozing. For years now, I’ve passed by them. A daily ritual of going and coming.
It isn’t really visible, to those around me. The casual observer might think I have it all figured out. That my life is an orderly progression of ease and simplicity.
The moment. That defining moment. That life defining moment. When things come into focus, and the world goes silent.
