Sugar and Tears
Ron delicately paced around the outskirts of his daughter’s bedroom, gently running his calloused fingers through the colorful doodles of cute blue dogs scattered across the top of her white dresser. He was keeping his distance, yet ears glued to the sound of his sobbing child, while his wife consoled Emily on her bed which was overflowing with Disney princess pillows and an impressive collection of stuffed animals. He loved his daughter more than life itself, but when it came to situations like these, he knew that his wife was better suited to help navigate the churning and changing waters of adolescence.

Ellie
To put it simply, mayhem ensued. While Murphy was left dangling from the bars, holding on for dear life, my turn to die had finally arrived, and Hnid was going to be my executioner. Fate/Choice. Top Story - February 2025.
Swarmed by the crazed horde, Murphy and I were both taken prisoner before we had the chance to blink. I tried to fight, but my arms were being held down with so much force I feared they would break if I strained them. It was useless. They were too strong, too mean, and too many.

The Red Gate
“What are we going to do?” Polk asked. By this point everyone in our group, save for the three missing socks, were all huddled together within the small chamber in front of the two tunnels. Coming to an agreement that the screams echoing throughout the shafts were connected to the missing socks, and with only one obvious path they could have gone, it quickly became apparent that a volunteer was needed to explore the left tunnel.

A Tale of Two Tunnels. Top Story - January 2025.
“Are you sure we’re going the right way?” Polk stopped his gloomy trek down the tunnel and turned back to face his friends. Looking from misfit to misfit, his eyes finally landed on the inquisitive, injured triple A battery, who was slowly leaking potassium hydroxide out of its negative terminal.

Afraid of The Light
Knowing what I needed to do first, I sprouted from behind the rock and ran as fast as I could. After dodging a few slashing blue whips and the venomous biting of spider fangs, I finally collapsed at Chester’s side. Nearly out of breath, I carefully leaned him over so I could access the lock on his ankle restraints.

That's No Dog Toy. Top Story - December 2024.
I was dragged much longer than I’d like to admit, so I wont. What I will admit is that in those moments of shame, I began to believe that failure was possible. And that maybe I had been wrong about Arly all along. She didn’t want to be saved. She wanted to be free. I was wrong in thinking they meant the same thing.
