Indeed, that was the first constitution of the United States. Now, let's explore how we arrived at this point in history. Let's rewind a bit. Since April of 1775, British and American soldiers had been engaging in battles during the Revolutionary War. Finally, on July 4th, 1776, the United States declared its independence.
